Vector Control

Vector Control is strategically targeting areas with high levels of mosquitos breeding. This is determined by setting traps throughout the City where there are breeding sources such as drains, roadside ditches, flood channels, and high grassy fields. The traps will indicate the number of adult mosquitoes in a particular area, guiding our control efforts. Our goal is to treat the high-level areas of mosquitos to avoid breeding and eggs from hatching.

Remember, Vector Control can only spray and treat standing water in the public areas of our city. We cannot spray or treat standing water on private property. There are larvicides available at most home improvement stores citizens can use to safely treat standing water on their private property. We also encourage residents to maintain their yards and to dispose of items that can contain standing water.
